The introduction of the x205 server delivers customers
affordability without compromise to features or
function. Through Intel Pentium 4 technology, the x205
is the first IBM server to deliver 533MHz front-side bus
speeds. New hot-swap hard disk drive models deliver
server availability not previously obtainable by small
and medium businesses at such an affordable price.
Standard media
All systems come
standard with 1.44MB Floppy Disk Drive and 48X-20X
CD-ROM. In addition, there is an open bay available for
tape-back solutions.
Storage
Hot-swap SCSI hard disk
drives add a new level of availability to the value
tower, complementing the fixed IDE or SCSI models. The
x205 can support up to 360GB of IDE storage, 293.6GB of
non-hot-swap SCSI storage or 220.2GB of hot-swap
storage, allowing you to choose what’s right for your
business needs.
Universal design
The x205 is a tower server
that can easily be converted to a rack with an optional
tower-to-rack kit. This flexible design allows the x205
to accommodate any work environment
Ease-of-use Design
Tool-less chassis marked by
blue touch points, provides easy access to internal

Processor
The x205 offers a choice of
Intel Celeron processor technology at 2.0GHz, or Intel
Pentium 4 with speeds up to 2.8GHz and 533MHz front-side
bus for increased performance. This server offers
greater performance, manageability and value for small-
to medium-sized businesses, running applications such as
file and print, e-mail, calendaring, order processing or
accounting.
Memory
The x205 comes standard with 256GB of
Double Density Rate (DDR) Error Checking and Correcting
(ECC) PC2100 memory, with capacity up to 2GB.
Fans
The x205 comes standard with two fans
on the IDE and non-hot-swap SCSI models. The hot-swap
models come standard with three fans for additional
cooling.
Systems management
Features like Automatic Server Restart (ASR) and Alert
Standard Format (ASF) provide enhanced alerting and
system availability. For remote systems management
capabilities, the x205 supports the IBM Remote
Supervisor Adapter so you can proactively monitor and
manage your IT assets, even when the server is not
operational. Expect new levels of availability,
